Minneapolis City Council Members Get Private Security After Voting to Defund Police

Can you imagine spending nearly $5,000 a day for private security, and you are responsible for defunding your city’s police department?

Minneapolis is spending $4,500 a day for private security to cover city council members who’ve received threats following the death of George Floyd.

A spokesperson for the city stated the private security details have cost taxpayers $63,000 over the past three weeks.  Do you know how many cops we could have paid?

You can’t make this stuff up.  They voted to pretty much end policing in Minneapolis, which affects a lot of people who live there, yet when they received threats they get the same taxpayers to pay for their own private security.  Unbelievable!

The three city council members who have a security detail are the three jackasses who pushed for the defunding of the Minneapolis Police Department; Andrea Jenkins (Ward 8), and Phillipe Cunningham (Ward 4), and Alondra Cano (Ward 9).

Cunningham refused to talk about the security details.

“I don’t feel comfortable publicly discussing the death threats against me or the level of security I currently have protecting me from those threats,” said Cunningham in a text message.   But he has no problem at all telling his constituents that it’s tough luck for them to be protected by police when bad guys threaten their lives, right?

He added that security is temporary. That doesn’t make his hypocrisy any easier to swallow.

Jenkins said she asked for security after she was first sworn in.  She said she received threats in the form of emails, letters, and social media.

“My concern is a large number of white nationalist(s) in our city and other threatening communications I’ve been receiving,” wrote Jenkins in an email.

What a load of bullschtein.  You couldn’t fill a taxicab with the number of white nationalists in Minneapolis.  White nationalists is the new boogeyman for woke racial leftists who don’t want you to question their actions.

Cano did not return calls.  She’s probably hiding in her basement.

Minneapolis mayors have historically had a security element of a police officer who also served as the mayor’s driver. The 13 city council members aren’t usually given the same protection, especially now that they voted to defund the police.  What goes around comes around.

When asked why Minneapolis police aren’t offering security for the three council members, a city spokesperson stated that police resources are needed in the community.  The cost of personal safety is about the same as the cost of a police officer, according to the spokesperson.  Karma is a b.

According to the spokesperson, there are no recent reports of threats toward the council members, but the reporting may have been done confidentially.

Jenkins said she hasn’t reported the threats to the police as a result of she has been preoccupied with the “world pandemic and world rebellion” over the killing of George Floyd.

Jenkins complained that the threats she received were targeted at her ethnicity, gender, and sexuality.
